David Paul Rushton, Owner/Inspector

David Rushton is the founder, president and sole inspector of ABLE Building Inspection, Inc. in Warren County, Virginia. He founded the business in 1993 in Southern New Jersey and relocated to Virginia in 1999. Prior to ABLE Building Inspection, he was president of Rushton Construction Company, Inc. from 1977 until 1993. He also was president of Rushton Electric from 1982 until 1985 and vice-president of Deutsch Electric, Inc. from 1985 until 1990.

When Rushton Construction Company started, Mr. Rushton personally built and designed numerous residential and commercial renovations. As the business grew and developed, he supervised the construction of custom, quality renovation and new construction projects up to $500,000 in size. He has extensive, hands on experience in rough and finish carpentry, roofing and masonry. Electrical projects were constructed and managed under Rushton and Deutsch Electric. Mr. Rushton has been a licensed electrician since 1982.

David Rushton graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design, specializing in architectural design and construction technology. He has continued his education since college with courses and seminars in building inspection, construction technology, electrical code changes, radon measurement, and business management. He is currently licensed as a general building contractor and master electrician in Virginia.

Mr. Rushton is a certified member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, #109688 and is a member and secretary of the Northern Virginia Chapter of ASHI. He is a certified radon measurement specialist with the National Environmental Health Association and the National Radon Safety Board. He performs residential and commercial inspections and radon testing in Northern Virginia, the Piedmont and Shenandoah regions of Virginia and the eastern counties of West Virginia. Residential and commercial building inspections are his sole, full-time profession.

David and Debra Rushton have been married since 1987. They enjoy gardening, motorcycle touring, bicycling, running and cross-country skiing. They have restored three 90 to 120 year old homes in New Jersey. They moved to Harmony Hollow, Virginia to live in and restore a 150 year old farm house in the country. They raise dogs, cats and pygmy goats.
